Position Description:

Manage all production activities and personnel in the machine shop, weld shop, parts finishing, planning, outside processing/machining and manufacturing engineer support dept. Manage safety, quality, on time delivery, budgets, planning, CIP activities and WIP inventories etc.

o Responsible for attracting, identifying, developing and retaining talent, including all facets of talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and employee learning & development.

o Effectively leads and manages people resources to include ongoing performance feedback, annual performance reviews and recognition, and the future development of people. Assure that both the short term and long term human resource needs are met, including safety, manpower planning, training, salary administration, and career planning.

o Drive a high performance culture by cascading SMART objectives to all direct reports.

o Reviews job and performance expectations regularly

o Provides informal/formal feedback continuously and during formal mid-year and year end performance reviews.

o Ensure that employees understand the skills, competencies, and behaviors required for their roles. Assess competencies within the PMP form and address competency gaps with training and development

Identify development opportunities (classes, books, webinars, and associations). As a guideline, employee development should be 70% job experiences, 20% coaching and mentoring and 10% formal training.

• Teach, understand and follow the process and procedures as required by the ISO 9000 standard. Ensure discipline and compliance with documented SPPs. Ensure that procedures are followed, or changed as needed and then followed.

• Develop and implement process improvements which continuously improve the quality of the product manufactured in the shop, OTD, reduce operating & product costs, and lead-times.

• Develop and/or Maintain effective compliance programs relating to Financial controls, Sox controls, Export Compliance, Import Compliance, IT Configuration controls, Other internal controls and procedures as applicable.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications (List all qualifications necessary and/or advantageous)

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 8-10 years minimum experience in manufacturing, or a related field is required. Metal fabrication machining or Control Valve manufacturing industry is ideal.

  • 5 years minimum of management experience in a relevant manufacturing industry; ideally 10+ years.

  • General CNC and Manual Machining knowledge is highly preferred, including shop supervisory experience (machine shop, inspection, welding, engineering).

  • Leadership abilities, positive working relationship building abilities, excellent oral communication and writing skills, able to lead and delegate, CIP and constraint management training and full understanding of manufacturing and product knowledge.

Preferences:

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Complete product knowledge (metal machining, control valve, or mechanical valve fabrication), broad range of machine and manufacturing background/experience.

  • CIP familiarity, LEAN, and Constraint Management Training is preferred. ,
