The Electrical Engineer supports Flowserve electrical and electronic products currently in production. Responsible for trouble shooting and resolving software and hardware issues with our globally marketed actuation product platform. Some product design work is also involved. This role is as diverse as it is rewarding and the right candidate will grow in all areas of product knowledge and electrical engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the electrical BOMs for all electronic printed circuit boards (PCB) currently in production. This includes resolving parts obsolescence through analysis and testing, updating the BOMs, and finding cost reductions when necessary.
Board troubleshooting challenges include power electronics (power supply and motor power drive), embedded microcontroller circuit design (hardware and software), analog and digital I/O, and industrial network communications.
Some design work performed resolving issues, developing sales demo equipment, and adding new features (hardware and software) for embedded controls.
Board level analysis and design include schematics, artwork, component selection, functional validation, and agency certifications.
Thorough documentation of testing and designs is required.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects at a time.
0-15% Occasional domestic or international travel.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering
0-3 years of experience with electrical/electronic design or analysis
Experience with engineering software tools such as:
PCB Schematic and artwork – Altium (preferred) or OrCAD.
Simulation – LTspice or PLECS.
Experience with embedded microcontrollers.
Experience writing code in C, C++, Java, etc.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Must be U.S. citizen, NOFORN required
Experience with industrial communications protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, Devicenet, Hart) is a plus.
Experience with embedded serial protocols (I2C, SPI, CAM, etc.) is a plus.
Labview experience is a plus.
